Pastor Weekly - 2/28/24

Hello ICC Family!

Living in light and love is not something we can do on our own.  The Holy Spirit has to enable us as He comes right inside of us and fills us.  Reading Phil Ryken’s book called “Loving Jesus More,” I came across a great example of this.

“William Temple, who served as the Archbishop of Canterbury during World War II, illustrated the inward work of the Holy Spirit by drawing an analogy to William Shakespeare.  ‘It is no good giving me a play like Hamlet or King Lear,’ Temple said, ‘and telling me to write a play like that.  Shakespeare could do it - I can’t.  And it is no good showing me a life like the life of Jesus and telling me to live a life like that.  Jesus could do it - I can’t.  But if the genius of Shakespeare could come and live in me, then I could write plays like his.  And if the Spirit could come into me,

then I could live a life like His.’”

Praise be to God that we can’t be possessed by Shakespeare!  But even more praise to God that the Spirit lives inside of us!  My prayer for myself and all of you is that each day there are less moments where we have forgotten whose we are, and more moments that we walk in joy and thanksgiving and hope because we are in the Spirit.

“For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. 15 The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” 16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children.”

Romans 8:14-16

Blessings to you all.  And know that I’m praying for you!
