Pastor Weekly - 5/1/24

Aaron Bohrer

Hello ICC Family!

What a great day we had at the picnic on Saturday! I think many of you were led to invite friends and family to join us, as we had quite a few guests for the day. It was great getting to catch up with some people that we have not seen for a while, as well as meeting some new folks. As always, the food was good, and we had the bonus this year of running water throughout the building! Check out our Facebook page via the link below for pictures from the event.

This Sunday we will spend a little time looking backwards. One way we do that is by celebrating Communion together. This is a special time for us to remember what Jesus sacrificed and accomplished on the cross. Then we will also be reviewing how God has been at work this past month at ICC. You can read the summary of our Call to Commitment sermon series points in the picture above. We have also been enjoying the Carry the Flame discipleship series. I trust that the Lord has been speaking to each of us during these weeks and working in our lives. We will have the opportunity to share about how God is working on Sunday as we share testimonies during the service.  As I mentioned in closing last Sunday, please be in prayer about whether and how you should share with the church. If God is leading you to do so, come prepared to do that briefly so others will also have time to share. Also make sure that your testimony gives all glory to God. When we have good things happen in our lives, we can sometimes talk about them in ways that make it sound like we deserved it, with the implication that people that are experiencing pain and loss do not. Testimonies can be about every aspect of life - not just the blessings! Because when we know Christ, God promises to use everything in our lives for our good and his glory. Your witness about God’s loving care even in hardship and pain can be just the encouragement someone else needs to hear!  And the bonus is this will also help you be prepared to give an answer when people ask about the hope within you!

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Romans 8:28

Not only will we be reviewing, though. We will also be looking forward a bit… The main points from our sermon series are action points from ICC’s mission statement involving growing as disciples and making disciples. At the end of the service Sunday, we will have a time of commitment for each of us to dedicate ourselves once again to growing in these areas. It should be a special time for us as a church. We will also be looking forward as we have our elder elections for the year and put in place leaders that will guide us in the months ahead. Please be in prayer about the election and for our leadership moving forward.

Blessings to you all.  And know that I’m praying for you!

Pastor Aaron
