Pastor Weekly - 1/17/24

Hello ICC Family!

I hope to see many of you at our Fellowship meal and Discipleship and Prayer time this evening.  It is always helpful, fun, and encouraging to see our brothers and sisters in Christ in the middle of the week.

This week I would like to ask you to pray for your church leadership - the elders and myself.  I know you do this regularly, but we will be meeting this Saturday as elders, and then the church council will meet this Sunday after church to discuss the calendar for the year ahead.  This means that we will also be discussing our priorities and where we believe God would have us focus our time and resources in 2024.

We have looked at several verses concerning ‘planning’ the past few weeks - the story of the Good Samaritan and Isaiah 32:8 among others.  The book of Proverbs has many verses that discuss making plans as well.  Following are just a few of them:

  • Proverbs 15:22 - “Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.”

  • Proverbs 16:3 - “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.”

  • Proverbs 16:9 - “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.”

  • Proverbs 19:21 - ‘Many are the plans in a person's heart, but it is the LORD'S purpose that prevails.”

I share these just to give you some concrete ideas for what to pray for your church leaders these days.

  • Pray that our plans would be wise - full of counsel, and not just our own, but the Lord’s.

  • Pray that we will commit every plan to the Lord, and continue to do so tirelessly.

  • Pray that we would hold all of our plans loosely, such that the Lord would be able to guide our steps in a different direction of needed.

  • And then pray that no matter what… God’s will would be done and that He would be glorified through the ministry and people of ICC.

To increase our number of advisors even more, as Proverbs 15:22 states, I would ask that you please fill out the survey with the link below.  Thanks for your help, your prayers, and your service!

Praying for you!

Pastor Aaron
