Hello ICC Family!
At some point we will have a sermon series about worship. The reason we have not already is because I am a little scared to take on the subject. I have learned through observation and experience that preachers can falter when taking on their favorite passages or subjects. They have too many thoughts and too much emotion, and the end result is a lot of passion but not much clarity.
But worship is so important. It is the way we bring God glory. Such that any time we do something in the Spirit, we are bringing him glory. That is why it is said that we are always worshiping. Our job as disciples then is to learn to direct and aim that worship towards the Lord always. Matt Papa quotes David Platt saying, “‘Worship is a rhythm of revelation and response.’ You see something magnificent, and then respond in the praise or adoration of that thing. That’s worship. You behold or experience some glory, whether it’s the glory of a slam dunk, the glory of a sunset, the glory of a rock band, or the glory of God, and then, quite naturally, you overflow with awe. You sing. You say ‘Wow!’”
We have the opportunity later this week to take an extra hour and slow down in order to see something magnificent. To meet with the Lord, in the company of our brothers and sisters, and respond personally and corporately by saying, “Wow!” I really hope you are planning to join us. It will be a special time because our friends from Harbour Lake Baptist Church are joining us. We have a special relationship with that church because they hosted our own congregation for several years, before we landed in our current building. It is also a special time for each of us personally, though. And no one else can take your place. God means for each of us to lift our hands and our hearts and our voices to him. And as we do that… we will be blessed. We will be refreshed!
Blessings to you all. I hope to see you tonight and Saturday evening at 7PM.
Pastor Aaron
