Hello ICC Family!
Laurel and I will be on our way back to the U.S. tomorrow! It’s been a great week and a half, and we have especially enjoyed our days with Ellie here in Germany. Several of you asked us to make sure we take a lot of pictures. We have tried to do just that - even as we have dealt with rain most of our time over here. If you are interested in seeing them, we will be glad to oblige!
I have been reading a lot in Exodus on this trip in preparation for starting a sermon series that will walk us through that book. So, you can look forward to that starting in a couple of weeks. But before that we will hop back over to where we left off in the book of Luke. I will be preaching from chapter 4 on Sunday, but I was struck by one little phrase in chapter 3. The end of chapter 3 gives one of the genealogies of Jesus, and it starts out like this:
Now Jesus himself was about thirty years old when he began his ministry.
He was the son, so it was thought, of Joseph…
Luke 3:23
We have met many of Ellie’s friends and co-workers here in Germany, and over and over as we smile and shake hands they have asked, “Oh… are these your parents?” And I must say that every time that happens, I beam with pride a little bit inside as Ellie introduces us. It is clear that she is well-loved and respected and has found a wonderful place of ministry here. She makes a father proud. But Laurel and I will leave tomorrow, and it won’t matter much to any of the people that we have met that I am her father. What is important - both for now and for eternity - is that she is the daughter of the King. She can have an impact here for the kingdom of God not because she is the daughter of Aaron, but because she is a child of God. I hope and trust that is the case for all of us!
Please make note of a couple of dates below… Brother Steve announced our ICC movie night on Friday, June 7th. More info will be coming about it on Sunday, but I think it will be interesting and something different for all of us. We are looking at the possibility of having an ICC night at the Carolina RiverDogs game - potentially on Friday July 5th. In order to gauge the interest for that would you please click on the button below? Three quick questions on whether you are interested in going. We need to have at least 20 people confirmed in order to finalize the date. Thanks for helping us with that!
Blessings to you all. And know that I’m praying for you!
Pastor Aaron
