Hello Friends!
I hope that everyone is doing well this week, and I hope to see you tonight for fellowship dinner and our discipleship and prayer time. In preparation for that time, I have been doing a lot of reading and listening in order to facilitate a conversation and lead a prayer time focused on the attack on Israel by the terrorist group, Hamas. Instead of my weekly story, I thought it might be beneficial to send you links to the resources that I have found helpful. This is not a comprehensive list by any means, and if you have found other articles that you think should be added to this list, please send me a link. There are some theological issues involved with the nation/state of Israel that factor into how one would pray for Israel and the Jewish people. But one thing is clear… as Christians and as the church - we are called to pray. So, praise the Lord that ICC is a church that is faithful in prayer. Therefore, let’s stand in the gap as an international church, and as a praying church, for Israel. And lets pray that the church would be the light and the refuge in times of struggle that we are called to be…
Evangelical Statement in Support of Israel - This is the statement that we prayed through last week.
An Explanation of what Hamas is Hoping to Accomplish through Jihad
Jewish and Palestinian Christians - Their Thoughts on the Attack - Very moving and helpful words by local Christian leaders
Prayer Guide for the Holy Land - From the International Mission Board
A Prayer for Peace in Israel and Gaza - By World Relief
A Conversation about the Ramifications of the Attack - A long Youtube video discussing the geo-political, biblical, and theological ramifications of the attack, filmed during a chapel service at Southern Seminary. If you want a deep-dive, this may be helpful to you!
Praying for you all!
Pastor Aaron
