Pastor Weekly - 1/29/25

Aaron Bohrer

Hello ICC Family!

A couple of quick thoughts today…  First, please try to come this evening as we get together with our friends from Harbour Lake Baptist Church to officially kick off our new prayer emphasis for the year.  Brother Ozzie will lead us in worship as we pray through the Pray Charleston focus points together.  It will be a great time of encouragement and commitment for us, as well as being effective for the work of God to be done in Goose Creek and greater Charleston!  We will start at 6:15.

Second… I wanted to share just one of the verses that jumped out to us this week at Crowfield Bible Club.  We recently started studying the book of Daniel.  It’s a book that as an adult, people either try to avoid or they get entirely too wrapped up in as they try to piece together every minute of the end times.  But we believe God’s word when it says that all Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for training in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16-17). So, we have dived into the book and are learning a lot and being challenged by the faith of Daniel and his friends.  In chapter 2, King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon has a dream, and he challenges all of the magicians and astrologers and wise men in the country to not only interpret the dream for him, but to do so without him even telling them what the dream was. Even though the king was furious at them and had told these magicians that they were doomed if they couldn’t explain it, they replied to the king in verse 10 saying:

The king’s demand is impossible. No one except the gods can tell you your dream, and they do not live here among people.

Daniel 2:11

This gives Daniel the opportunity to show both the King and the magicians that they were exactly right.  Nobody except God could have told him his dream.  And because Jehovah was the one true God, He did exactly that!  Daniel and his friends were saved because of God’s power and grace.  Furthermore, we get the blessing today of knowing that while the magicians were right about only God being able to state the dream, they were wrong about God not living among his people.  We know He does so in every single one of his children that gladly and proudly bear his name.

Praise the Lord that we serve a God that reveals the deepest mysteries of all things to his people exactly when we need to know them.  And praise God that He has lowered himself to live among his people!  As our verses in Colossians said last week, “For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son, who purchased our freedom and forgave our sins,” (Colossians 1:13-14).  If you are free and able, come and join us as we continue to study Daniel in the weeks ahead - every Tuesday from Noon to 1PM at the church.

Blessings to all of you and know that I am praying for you!

Pastor Aaron
